Easy Gumball Machine Craft

There is something incredibly nostalgic about a gumball machine. I can remember every store having a gumball machine at its front entrance. I would make sure to be on my best behavior while in the store so that I could ask for a quarter to use at the gumball machine. The options were endless: gumballs (obviously), candy, bouncy balls, or those surprise toys!

Are you eating candy without me by Draga Jenny Malesevic only inspired the urge to make my own at-home gumball machine with my kids. This craft is super easy to do, doesn’t take up much of your time, and kids of all ages will want to participate.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. red and black construction paper

  2. small paper plate

  3. liquid glue

  4. pom pom balls (preferably the bigger sized, not the mini)

Here’s what you’ll do:

  1. Cut out the base of the gumball machine as a rectangle using the red construction paper. Then cut off the top of the rectangle making it into a half-circle.

  2. Cut out another half circle using the red construction paper. This will be the top of your gumball machine.

  3. Then you’ll need a mini version of the base shape to be the door where the candy comes out for the gumball machine. Use the black construction paper for this one.

  4. Place a quarter-sized amount of glue on the top of the large red piece of paper (the base).

  5. Place the paper plate, facing up, on the glue. Try to make sure the plate is centered.

  6. Add a line of glue to the top curve of the plate.

  7. Add the second piece of red paper, lining the curves together, on the glue.

  8. Place 20 dots of glue on the inner circle of the plate. Then place the 20 pom-poms.

  9. Place a small dab of glue on the black sheet of paper and center it on the bottom of the base.

  10. Let everything dry for one hour.

You’re all done! Super easy and quick craft to do with your little one. Make sure to share your craft on social media by tagging us @tyrannosaurustot or using the hashtag #totcrafts
