DIY Butterfly Planter

I love a good springtime craft. Spring just means flowers, plants, and new life! These butterfly planters are the perfect spring-themed craft. Your child is able to paint their pot and turn it into a butterfly. They can then add a plant or start from scratch and plant seeds to watch grow. The best part is that it’s handmade and will be a nice keepsake for years to come!

Supplies:

  • Terracotta Pot

  • Paint set & Paintbrush

  • Set of Googly eyes

  • Set of Butterfly Wings

  • Pipe Cleaner

  • Glue

  • Black Marker

  • Pack of Seeds

Instructions:

  1. Paint your pot! Paint a design such as polka-dots, or flowers, make a pattern, or paint it one solid color! The options are endless!

  2. Once your pot is dry, glue on your eyes and draw the mouth.

  3. Next, glue your butterfly wings slightly below the rim, or on the rim, if you would like your wings higher on the pot.

  4. Now, fold your pipe cleaner in half, and curl the ends to make antennas. Then glue the antennas to the inside of the pot. Make sure to hold for at least 20 seconds.

  5. Fill your pot with dirt and allow your special person to plant the seeds or pick out a plant for the pot!

*Great plant options include aloe vera, cacti, succulents, pothos, or string of hearts or pearls.

Don't forget to sign your name on the pot!

Enjoy!
