May 2024 Reading List

Spring showers have brought May flowers along with Mother’s Day and celebrating our 2nd birthday!

Here’s everything we’re reading throughout the month of May:

  1. When’s My Birthday - Julie Fogliano: An enthusiastic celebration of all things birthday!

  2. How to Have a Birthday - Mary Lyn Ray: This beautiful book is a celebration of the best birthday gift, a day that’s all about you and all the ways to celebrate.

  3. The Grouchy Ladybug - Eric Carle: Follow the journey of the Grouchy Ladybug as your child learns about time, size, and shape, as well as the importance of friendship and good manners.

  4. Arlo Draws an Octopus - Lori Mortensen: Arlo struggles with drawing an octopus. As he continues to try to draw an octopus, Arlo learns the importance of creativity, making mistakes, and to keep trying.

  5. You Be Mommy - Karla Clark: This is a funny story about a tired mom who lets her daughter be the parent for bedtime.

  6. Ohana Means Family - Ilima Loomis: Join the Ohana as they prepare a special meal for a luau celebration.

  7. BUGS - Britta Teckentrup: A fun, peek-through picture book that takes a closer look at the lives of bugs.

  8. Joy Takes Root - Gwendolyn Wallace: A beautiful intergenerational story of gardening, mindfulness, and herbal medicine between a grandmother and granddaughter.

  9. If Only - Mies Van Hout: A gorgeous book of exploring the longing of wanting to be someone else but as told by bugs.

  10. How to Find a Bird - Jennifer Ward: A perfect how-to guide for young learners to learn how to birdwatch. The perfect time to do so now that it’s spring!
