The Best Picture Books for Mother’s Day
It’s that special time of year again when we celebrate the amazing moms and women in our lives for Mother’s Day. I’ve curated beautiful stories that celebrate moms and all that they do. These stories share encouraging relationships, inspiring stories, stunning imagery, and beautiful words to encompass the extraordinary women we call moms.
I hope you choose one of these stories to read with your little ones to celebrate!
Here’s everything we’re reading for Mother’s Day:
Howl - Kat Patrick: a beautiful story of a little girl named Maggie who has a bad day and learns to manage her big emotions with the help of her mom.
Tisha and the Blossoms - Wendy Meddour: Mommy is always hurrying Tisha and rushing her along the day. This gorgeous and gentle story shows the importance of slowing down and practicing mindfulness.
Lola at the Library - Anna Mcquinn: Follow along with Lola and her mommy on their special trip to the library, which they take every Tuesday.
Like the Moon Loves the Sky - Hena Khan: This lyrical book shows the stunning beauty of a mother’s love for her child. The perfect bedtime read-aloud
Mum, Me, and the Mulberry Tree - Tanya Rosie: This book showcases the beautiful tradition of a mother-daughter duo visiting a special mulberry tree in the English countryside.
Saturday - Oge Mora: Follow along the up-and-down journey of a mom and daughter on their Saturday as they realize the importance of their special time spent together.
You Be Mommy - Karla Clark: This is a funny story about a tired mom who lets her daughter be the parent for bedtime.
Home Base - Nikki Tate: This empowering book follows a baseball-loving girl and her supportive mother as they learn the importance of hard work and dedication.
The Best Mother - C.M. Surrisi: Maxine is in a terrible mood and thinks the problem is her mom, but after a while, she realizes the grass isn’t greeher on the other side.
Mama: A World of Mothers and Motherhood - Helene Delforge: This is a stunning collection of breathtaking imagery and intimate reflections on motherhood from around the globe. It is truly one of my favorite books to look through.
Edgar Gets Ready for Bed - Jennifer Adams: Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven, Edgar, the mischievous Raven refuses to get ready for bed, but moms always know what to do. This is one of my son’s favorite bedtime reads. We love to sit and read it together.
Have a beautiful Mother’s Day!
