The Old Boat Book Cover
You and your child will work together to create a cut & paste replica of The Old Boat's book cover by Jarrett Pumphrey and Jerome Pumphrey.
This craft gives your child more freedom to create, allowing you to be more hands-free and enjoy spending quality time with your child.
It’ll be fun to compare and contrast your child’s work to that of the book!
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Gray, yellow, red, blue, green, and white construction paper
Scissors
Glue
Here’s What You’ll do:
Cut out red, yellow, and blue fish, about 3 of each color
Cut a long strip of the yellow construction paper.
Cut a long strip of the blue construction paper. Fold it back it forth to create crinkles.
Cut out a boat shape with the green construction paper then use the white to cut out the window and stripe that is on the boat.
Glue the yellow strip down at the top of the gray paper.
Glue the ends of the blue crinkled paper at the bottom of the gray paper.*Be sure not to glue the whole strip down, just the ends.
Next, glue the green boat. First, the green boat, then glue the white parts on top.
Freely glue the red, yellow, blue, and white fish in the space between the boat and the water.
Feel free to draw a man or woman on your boat.
Your book cover of The Old Boat is all done! Talk with your child about the similarities and differences you both see between the book and the craft.
