Yarn & Bead Butterfly

I remember chasing butterflies at my grandmother’s house during the early summer months. Butterflies are sweet reminder of warmer weather. This easy yarn & bead butterfly is a fun, summer craft!

Supplies:

  • 1 pipe cleaner

  • 2 pieces of yarn

  • 1 large wooden bead

  • 7 small colorful beads

  • 2 popsicle sticks

  • 1 sticky dot

Instructions:

  1. Place your stick dot in the center of one of your popsicle sticks and add the second, making an X

  2. Take one of your pieces of yarn and start to make an X over and over again in the circle then on one side start to wrap the yarn around both popsicle sticks until you run out of yarn. Once you get to the end tuck the yarn into the last strand.

  3. Repeat on the second wing with the second piece of yarn.

  4. Fold your pipe cleaner in half and add 5 colorful beads to the bottom(folded edge) of the pipe cleaner.

  5. Place your wing in between the open part of the pipe cleaner and twist twice.

  6. Now add the head( the large wooden bead) for the head.

  7. Add the last two colorful beads on each antenna and curl slightly.

  8. Your butterfly is done!
